Steps and stairs

About the product
The step is a horizontal solid surface designed to support the foot of a person when moving in a vertical plane (ascent). A set of steps, one above the other, is called a ladder.

The steps are conventionally divided into:

upper frieze;

frieze lower (adjacent directly to the sites);

the rank and file.

The steps distinguish the horizontal plane - the tread and the vertical (the height of the rise) - the riser.

The steps are often cut, especially in the case of steep stairs, to increase the depth of the tread. The height of the riser varies from 12 to 22 cm, and the width of the tread should be 25-40 cm. These parameters, like many other things, depend on the purpose of the stairs. For example: the ratio of riser-tread of 12-40 cm is used for outdoor staircases, garden and park, and in those places where there is no possibility of constructing a ramp for people with disabilities; the ratio of the riser-tread of 22-25 cm for some types of auxiliary - basement, fire and evacuation. The most convenient for movement is a ladder with a ratio of 15-30 cm.

Ladder - a functional and structural element that provides vertical connections. The staircase consists of a number of steps. In architecture and construction, this term is applied to the elements of buildings or structures that are a bearing structure.

Stairs are classified according to several signs.

1. By appointment

The main (designed for the evacuation of people), the main are public ladders

Auxiliary (emergency stairs for emergency rescue, service staircases for entering the basement or attic space, roofing staircases for safe maintenance of the roof and its elements, staircases for communicating between the floors of the same apartment or an individual low-rise building, entrance and front doors, garden and park, moving stairs (escalators)

2. By location
internal staircases to be placed on staircases;

internal open staircases;

outdoor open staircases

In-apartment

3. According to the material of manufacture
Wooden (most often - oak, pine, beech, cedar, larch, ash) - intra-apartment, low-rise apartment buildings, etc.

Concrete - the main stairs of civil and industrial buildings.

Reinforced concrete.

Brick.

Of natural (natural) stones.

Of mineral materials (porcelain tiles, tiles, etc.).

Metal (stainless steel, aluminum alloys, cast iron, copper, etc.) - fire, emergency, technical.

Forged.

The rope.

From glass. For the manufacture of such ladders, triplex is used (three layers of glass are glued with a special polymer film, which ensures absolute safety of the glass when broken).

From plastic.

Combined staircases (stairs, in the construction of which combinations of various materials are used: metal-glass, wood-metal, metal-stone, etc.).

The use of this or that material depends on the functional purpose of the ladder, as well as on the conditions of its operation.

1. By the presence (absence) of the riser
open (without riser)

closed (with riser)

2. By the number and configuration of marches within a single storey
With straight marches

One-, two-, three-, four-marsh

With crossing marches

Pyramidal

Rotary

L-shaped

U-shaped

S-shaped

Spiral screw

Quarter-turn 90 ° (they are usually installed along two adjacent walls)

Half-turn 180 °

360 ° circular

Curvilinear

Combined.

3. In the form of steps

With straight steps

With running steps

screw stages

angular turning steps

with steps "Goose step", or "Samba". They received their name due to the shape of the steps, symmetrically located relative to the line of motion and causing, when walking, association with the goose step. Another name is "samba", as the movement along such stairs follows, as in the dance, from the "right foot", otherwise you can lose your rhythm. This staircase can not be called very convenient, but it can prove to be indispensable in auxiliary rooms, small cottages or country houses. You can install it even in a very small area, sometimes 1-2 m². free space.
